The high standard of local technology know-how and software engineering has been demonstrated by a Pretoria-based IT company. Its enhancement of an international suite of reporting and business intelligence (BI) software is now being sold worldwide.
ADM Systems, an ERP and BI software specialist, headquartered in Lynnwood, Pretoria, took Vision Reporting, a BI software package from the International Infor Group and developed software enhancements.
These allow Vision to fully-integrate with the Macola Progression accounting, distribution and manufacturing package that is widely used in South Africa and other parts of the world.
Infor endorsed the enhancement and Vision resellers internationally are now supplying the enhanced product into Macola progression sites. ADM Systems managing director Anton Carstens said the enhancement allows Macola Progression users unprecedented access to their business data with full reporting and business intelligence functionality.
"The enhancement is robust, intuitive and improves overall reporting by extending access to the inventory management, purchase orders, bank book and fixed assets modules within Macola.
"The simplicity and functionality means users require minimal training to produce really meaningful business intelligence reports. One reporting solution can now quickly and simply drive reports from multiple Macola modules, consolidating and reconciling data that which was previously inaccessible or had to be assembled manually."
Carstens added that sub-ledger module data can now be reconciled with the general ledger at the click of a mouse, taking minutes instead of hours.
"One of our banking clients using Macola was able to bring its reporting time down from days to hours, now that our enhancements have automated this process in the Vision software. Users are also able to drill down into the ERP data, and retrieve answers to real business questions, saving time and effort."
The enhanced software, known as Vision for Macola Progression, offers online access for users to retrieve data and create reports from general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, order entry, purchase orders, inventory management, as well as the fixed assets and bank book modules.
