Adobe GoLive Dynamic Link for ASP now available on the Adobe.com Web site

Leading Web Designers anticipate huge production savings for authoring e-Commerce sites with Adobe GoLive Dynamic Link Software

Adobe Systems has announced the availability of Adobe GoLive Dynamic Link for Microsoft`s Active Server Pages (ASP) technology. GoLive Dynamic Link extends Adobe`s award-winning web authoring , Adobe GoLive, to enable web designers and programmers to streamline their workflows for building visually rich e-commerce and -driven web sites.

"The day of static, brochure-style web sites has passed," said Nic Tabor, Adobe sales manager for South Africa. "Clients need to be able to develop more robust, database-driven solutions. We are taking GoLive to the next level by integrating e-commerce and database functionality."

Introduced as a public beta in December, Adobe GoLive Dynamic Link for ASP is the first in a series of modules designed to help web teams streamline the development of the most dynamic e-commerce and data-driven sites. Over the coming months, Adobe plans to support other server side scripting languages and a wide range of databases and e-commerce servers, including solutions from Oracle, Sun Microsystems, Mercantec and Open Market. By summer 2000, Adobe expects to deliver a Software Development Kit (SDK) that will allow third parties to integrate GoLive with their own custom solutions for e-commerce and dynamic publishing.

"The ability for a graphic designer to write ASP code in a WYSIWIG environment and integrate it with back-end databases is fantastic," said Tabor. "This gives the designer greater control over the interface design and frees the programmer from doing mundane query and scripting tasks. If the designer does need to hand off some files to a programmer, the ASP code generated by Dynamic Link is clean and easy to work with. Dynamic Link for ASP enables designers, for the first time, to independently create a production-quality web page that goes out and grabs real-time data."

Availability

Adobe GoLive Dynamic Link for ASP is now available exclusively from the Adobe.com web site, http://www.adobe.com/products/golive. Adobe GoLive Dynamic Link for ASP requires Adobe GoLive 4.01 software for Macintosh or Windows, and is available to registered users of Adobe GoLive 4.0 software.
