Design software multinational Adobe Systems has unveiled the eighth version its Adobe Acrobat software.
Andrew Lindstrom, Middle East, Africa and Europe regional manager for Adobe, says the Adobe Acrobat 8 family of products builds a technological bridge to overcome challenges faced by knowledge workers.
"Challenges presented by differences in geographical location, computing platform and file format can now be overcome, allowing business professionals to communicate and collaborate ubiquitously," he says.
The Adobe Acrobat 8 family includes Acrobat 8 Professional, Acrobat 8 Standard, Acrobat 8 Elements, Acrobat 3D (aimed at design engineers) and the Acrobat reader, which can be downloaded free of charge.
"Acrobat 8 Professional, for Microsoft Windows and Macintosh, and Acrobat 8 Standard, for Windows, are expected to be available in November 2006," says Lindstrom. "We wanted to ship the product out close to the release date of Microsoft Vista."
Registered users of earlier versions of Acrobat can upgrade to Acrobat 8 Professional for R1 700, and Acrobat 8 Standard for R1 100. Acrobat 8 Professional is expected to be priced at R4 800, and Acrobat 8 Standard at R3 200, he says. All prices exclude VAT.
