Adtran buys NSN's fixed-line broadband unit
broadband access business of Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN), Forbes writes.
The deal includes the transfer of about 400 people. Terms of the deal, which is expected to close by the end of April 2012, were not disclosed.
"We believe that this planned divestment would provide our existing fixed broadband access customers with a continuous high-quality service," The Economic Times quotes Marc Rouanne, who heads NSN's mobile broadband unit, as saying.
"The planned sale is in line with our new strategy to increase our focus on the mobile broadband and services market," he pointed out.
According to ZDNet, last month, NSN announced it would cut 17 000 jobs worldwide by end-2013 as part of a massive restructuring plan to reduce operating expenses and production overheads, as well as to realign focus on mobile broadband.
