Aegis enters UK market

The 600 roles will be at a new centre in Manchester, which is expected to open later this year.

Aegis then plans a further significant expansion across various countries in continental Europe, where a number of additional customer centres will be opened during the next two years.

Aegis, which has over 50 000 employees across 50 locations globally, is entering the UK and European outsourcing market at a time of strong forecast market growth.

“We're delighted to be revealing our European presence with a new customer centre in Manchester. This approach of setting up greenfield centres in our target markets will be at the heart of Aegis's plans to further expand in other European countries,” says Aparup Sengupta, global CEO and managing director of Aegis, writes the Business Standard.

Aegis focuses on catering to customer needs from service centres located in domestic markets and employing local staff, instead of at offshore locations.

According to Financial Times, Lord Green, UK trade minister, said: “This is a clear testimony of confidence in the UK economy and another success story of a large Indian conglomerate using the UK as a springboard for global growth.”

Aegis says Manchester won over a number of European cities thanks to its large, flexible workforce and universities, giving access to students and graduates. It also paid tribute to city leaders for their support.
