Available from Multimedia Warehouse, a division of Siltek Distribution Dynamics (SDD) and member of the Siltek IT Supply Chain Group, Pinnacle Systems' Studio DV transfers digital video directly from a camcorder to a PC's hard disk drive (HDD) enabling users to quickly create professional-style movies.
The plug-and-play Studio DV ships with three high-speed FireWire/1394 ports that allows increased throughput for the camcorder and any FireWire/1394-compatible peripherals.
"The Studio DV captures the video, automatically detects scene changes and drops the digitised material into a story album. Users can drag, drop and swap scenes into the story board in real-time, and add additional features such as 300 professional-style titles, voice-over narration, custom soundtracks and transitions between scenes and more," says Jaco Laubscher, product manager at Multimedia Warehouse.
According to Laubscher, the Studio DV is the only DV editing product that can capture an entire 60 minute DV tape at preview quality on as little as 150 MB of hard disk space.
"Studio DV uses intelligent rendering which means that once you have edited your movie at preview quality, Studio DV automatically recaptures only the footage needed to make your final movie at full quality. The amount of disk space needed for the final capture is approximately 240MB per minute, which is very reasonable for professional quality video.
"Additionally, Studio DV allows users to produce videotapes or digital movies for e-mail or Internet. The Studio DV is a easy-to-use solution for anyone who wants to create entertaining movies from their DV or Digital8 camcorder video," says Laubscher.
