SDD, SA's largest broad-based distributor of information technology, has announced the availability of the HPNetserver e200 for the small business. The entry-level e200 is geared towards the SME market offering the best price/performance value for small businesses requiring an affordable and reliable file and print server.
According to Richard Stainforth, HP storage and server product manager at SDD, the need for an affordable, dependable server to handle file, print, or shared applications in a small business environment has increased with the boom in that sector.
"The e200 entry-level server is specifically designed for a five-to-ten person user group. It is positioned to make the transition from PC as storage device to server in the SME market. A business using a 20Gb hard drive, for instance, can now easily and affordably switch to the e200 server," explains Stainforth.
At under R10 000, the e200 falls effortlessly into the affordability bracket, while SDD also offers assembly to client specifications and after sales support, making the HP Netserver e200 very attractive to the price-sensitive small business market.
Powerful and dependable, the e200 offers a 933MHz or 1Ghz Intel Pentium III processor with 133MHz front side bus and up to 768MB of error-checking and -correcting (ECC) SDRAM memory with a maximum internal storage of 72GB SCSI or 60GB IDE. Expandability is covered by four PCI slots (two in the SCSI version, three in the IDE version) with one PCI/ISA combination slot, and seven shelves for mass storage allowing you to upgrade your network server as your business grows.
"The HP Netserver e200 offers the SME market the perfect opportunity to install an affordable and reliable HP server. With expandability, power and affordability being the determining factor when looking at entry-level servers HP developed the e200 to meet these requirements. The e200 should be the perfect fit for any small business," concludes Stainforth.
