South African wildlife viewing Web site AfriCam is back online, following the sale of the liquidated company to a consortium earlier this year.

AfriCam, once seen as SA`s most innovative e-business success story, sought voluntary liquidation late last year, to the distress of millions of "AfriCammers" worldwide.

Last month, the company was sold to a consortium including original founders of the site.

The consortium, headed by original founder and Real Time Travel Connection MD Paul Clifford, also includes founder Graham Wallington, former CEO Peter Armitage, "adventurer" Alex Wills and Djuma Game Reserve owners Jurie Moolman, Pippa Moolman and Campbell Scott.

The site currently has four cameras live, and is operating as a free offering to registered users. A survey is currently underway via the site, to determine whether users will be prepared to pay subscriptions for a more comprehensive offering. AfriCam is also looking into the possibility of local companies sponsoring certain cameras, to keep as much content as possible free.

AfriCam`s story is also being chronicled online, in an interactive book to which users can contribute comments and photographs (www.africambook.com). The AfriCam story is to be released in published form in June or July.
