African Bank has completed a data and application migration process, with Datacentrix guiding the company`s finance department.
Since the beginning of January 2002, Datacentrix has assisted African Bank in upgrading the company`s existing ACCPAC 4.1, and SQL 7 installation to ACCPAC Advantage Series Enterprise Edition 4.2, running on SQL 2000. Additionally, all third party ACCPAC products were upgraded to version 4.2, as well as enhancing Datacentrix` custom written software to take advantage of SQL 2000.
"For the process to be successful, and on specific instruction from African Bank`s finance department, we performed detailed transaction testing on the upgraded data to ensure the integrity and the stability of the new environment," explains Charl Joubert, managing director, Datacentrix Business Solutions.
Datacentrix also prepared the new hardware with all ACCPAC 4.2 software and tested the installation by scripting an existing database on to the new server running SQL 2000. A two-week testing period was undertaken to ensure that ACCPAC was functioning properly, thus minimising the risk to the business at point of crossover.
"The final step of the project was to script databases to the new server and go live," says Leonie van Rensburg, financial controller at African Bank. "This was completed at the end of January this year and we are now up-and-running.
"African Bank has partnered with Datacentrix since October 2000, when they were selected to upgrade our software from DOS to Accpac Advantage Series Enterprise Edition," she adds.
