An effective enterprise architecture framework is a key enabler in responding to change in an agile and effective way.
This is according to John Hayden, a keynote speaker at the upcoming "Enterprise architecture: Blueprinting the future" event, hosted by ITWeb and the Meta Group. On at Gallagher Estate, Midrand, on 2 and 3 November, the event has both an interactive workshop and formal conference element.
Hayden, group enterprise architect for the Absa Group, will discuss the value of enterprise architecture in enabling business strategy and cost optimisation, as the pace and complexity of change increases at large corporates.
"Rapid response to new business initiatives and regulatory compliance is placing unprecedented pressure on organisations and their management teams," says Willie Appel, international VP, executive directions at the Meta Group. Appel is one of two Meta Group analysts who will facilitate the interactive workshop at the event.
"Challenged by increased tech complexities and heightened budget constraints, IT executives struggle to align their systems and services with the infrastructure and strategy needs of their organisations," says Appel.
"Leading government and private sector executives in lines of business in IT organisations in SA are increasingly turning to key management disciplines - such as enterprise strategy and planning, enterprise programme management and enterprise architecture - to achieve business and IT integration and performance," he adds.
The enterprise architecture event programme includes presentations from local practitioners, analysts, consultants and vendors.
