Airborne rates high at Microsoft Partner Awards

Johannesburg, 08 Oct 2007

Niche Cape-based Microsoft solutions consulting firm, Airborne Consulting, joined the ranks of the larger national consultancies recently, when it was nominated as a finalist for two awards at Microsoft`s annual Partner Awards - the Winning Customer Initiative Award, and the Custom Development Solutions Award.

Says Airborne MD Sean O`Connell: "Criteria for the nominations for both awards were based to a large degree on revenue generated for Microsoft, often measured in licensing revenue generated by the partner.

"Considering the fact that we purely provide services around the development of solutions utilising Microsoft products, and are not a software reseller, we are delighted with our nominations. We believe these nominations recognise the significant influence we have on the decisions Microsoft`s key strategic clients make in terms of where they spend their IT budgets."

Both nominations resulted in part from an implementation of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 at the V&A Waterfront, currently a global case study for Microsoft.

Says O`Connell: "We moved from a fragmented IT landscape to a state-of-the-art network that is attracting international recognition. With this stable, scaleable infrastructure in place, the V&A Waterfront became the first company in Africa to deploy Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 - supporting excellent employee collaboration, seamless information sharing across the business, reduced need for paper documents, and fast access to frequently used line-of-business applications."

Says Denis Klimashev, Subsidiary Partner Lead for Microsoft South Africa: "Since its inception in 2004, Airborne Consulting has been committed to the Microsoft platform and the partnership. Through solid customer relationships and exceptional service delivery, Airborne has consistently excelled in its customer base and has been one of the most strategic partners for Microsoft in the coastal region. It has focused on its two competencies, Information Worker, and Data Management, to bring truly world-class Microsoft solutions to its customers."

Airborne specialises in proof of concepts, bespoke development and large projects for blue-chip clients and key Microsoft accounts, and has just been awarded a large and hotly contested contract with one of South Africa`s largest telecoms players.

The depth of Microsoft consulting skills the company has assembled is unmatched in the coastal region, evidenced by its long-standing and successful relationship with Microsoft Services and its status as a trusted and preferred partner on strategic assignments.
