Wireless entertainment company Airgames, in which Primedia recently bought a 50% stake, has signed a reseller deal with mobile content distribution group Ki-Bi Mobile Technologies.
This is Ki-Bi`s first entry into SA. The company is headquartered in Israel and has manufacture ring lines in China. It is active in, among others, Australia, Canada, Germany, New Zealand, Singapore and the US.
Airgames is to roll out Ki-Bi cards as a distribution platform for its content portfolio across a range of channels including retail, cover mounts, events, direct marketing, and via operator bundling deals.
Ki-Bi`s cards and server platform are aimed at mass-market distribution of mobile content and services through retail and other non-virtual channels.
The company says almost all mobile content now is sold through virtual channels, while retail channels, including malls, newsstands, music stores, and so on, are being ignored.
It adds that the absence of mobile content from this space is a lost multibillion-dollar opportunity.
"Ki-Bi cards are a revolution in the physical distribution of virtual mobile content and this partnership is a unique opportunity for us to leverage their technological innovation in our home market," says Airgames CEO Terry Shatenstein.
He says the Ki-Bi platform is flexible and is applicable across a range of usage scenarios..
According to Ki-Bi`s web site, the products are targeted at companies across the mobile content value chain, including mobile operators, media and consumer-related companies, mobile content players and aggregators, handset manufacturers and merchandising retailers and distributors.
