Automated Identification Technologies (AIT), a leader in wireless identification, has announced a massive global channel and marketing drive following the successful rollout of its Link-it secure tagging platform.
Heralded by industry pundits as a breakthrough enabling technology in areas such as asset management, PC and building access control, the locally developed Link-it allows multiple applications to be embedded in a single universal secure hardware key. Currently, some of the world`s largest PC manufacturers are integrating AIT`s technology into their products.
According to Mike Victor, chairman of AIT, international demand for Link-it has seen the recent opening of UK- and US-based sales and marketing operations with technical support and training facilities in the offing.
"The last year has seen us extensively promote and market the technology worldwide and this has generated enormous interest among the industry at large. While wireless identification has been around for a number of years - and primarily the domain of the mainstream security industry - AIT`s offering now allows for cross-market penetration. In fact, for the first time, companies now have a totally integrated, open platform solution that allows for multi-application development."
Victor notes that the company will also open a London-based head office by year-end to support subsidiaries and channel partners throughout Europe, Middle East and Africa.
"We`re far advanced with our channel distribution programme and have already signed up a number of large distributors, value-added resellers and system integrators throughout the region. In addition, our US operation is consolidating its rapidly expanding operation at new premises in Irvine, California."
But what makes AIT`s offering so unique? Victor explains that years of research and development has produced a technology that has overcome all the inherent problems associated with wireless identification and thus its low rate of adoption in enterprise-wide operations.
"As far as the actual tag is concerned, we now have an active device based around off-the-shelf components with outstanding battery life. Through sleek hardware engineering and microcode development, we`re able to ensure that the microprocessor uses minimal power. In addition, our encryption algorithm is virtually impossible to crack. The result is an inexpensive solution which is simple in operation but features sophisticated API sets and open standards - a platform on which application developers in almost any industry can build their applications."
Victor foresees ubiquitous use of Link-it technology in the near future. "AIT is being approached by industries ranging from banking to airlines to farming operations who wish to embed and use the technology for their specific applications. And with the pervasiveness of e-commerce, the need for secure access and secure control of financial transactions will become even more apparent."
