AJS gets backing from leading software players

Johannesburg, 02 Nov 2005

Workgroup, in collaboration with IBM, has announced its support of Coleso`s recent acquisition of the AJS legal office application set. Coleso has been established with the exclusive aim of servicing existing AJS contracts and customers as well as expanding market share in the legal vertical market.

The AJS application is powered by IBM U2 software, which is distributed and managed through local software distributor Workgroup.

"We are encouraged by the acquisition and the determination of the Coleso team to stabilise the AJS customer base and take the business forward," says Jacqui Powell U2 General Manager at Workgroup.

"A new, transparent relationship has been established between IBM, Workgroup and Coleso," says Digby Vickers, Director at Coleso. "We are dedicated to, and continue to support the existing AJS user base, and aim to further develop the application moving forward," he says.

The most significant development to date has been the inclusion of a new FICA compliance module, explains Vickers. The module has been developed to ensure AJS users are fully compliant with all FICA regulations, and will assist users in completing, and conforming to the Act`s requirement. The power of the IBM U2 software has allowed us to rapidly develop and test the new module for incorporation into the latest AJS software update, which is due for release in November this year.

The module will also be available to existing AJS users at no charge, signalling a welcome change to previous instances where updated functionality was made available to users at a cost.

As part of its ongoing support to the AJS customer base, Coleso recently hosted a national road show, which took place in Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Durban and Johannesburg during October.

"Further enhancements to the application, as well as to the U2 platform on which AJS was developed, will enable Coleso to bring to market clearly defined product upgrade paths," Vickers says.

"We are, jointly, making a solid commitment to the legal applications space, and specifically to AJS customers in this market. We want these users to be assured that the product is well supported and that their existing software investment is not only safe, but is also backed by the muscle of IBM, Workgroup and Coleso."
