AL Indigo appointed BEA distributor in Sub-Saharan Africa

Johannesburg, 09 Mar 2005

African Legend Indigo (Pty) Ltd, a member of the African Legend Technologies Group, and BEA Systems, Inc, a world leader in enterprise infrastructure software, today announced the signature of a distribution agreement. According to the terms of the partnership, AL Indigo will distribute BEA`s entire product line in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The partnership is consistent with AL Indigo`s business strategy to align itself with key partners and product offerings that will put the company in a position to offer end-to-end enterprise software solutions across a range of industries and markets.

"Acquisitions and ongoing in-house development have seen a progressive growth of the BEA product offering, which currently comprises solutions across a variety of platforms," says Barry de Waal, General Manager of Solutions Offerings at AL Indigo. "BEA is not only a leader in the Application Platform Suite market, but also in the portal and enterprise application integration markets."

BEA offers a comprehensive integrated platform, comprising a range of products under the BEA WebLogic and BEA Tuxedo brands, that have emerged as trusted names in business technology. BEA helps customers evolve their existing enterprise software applications from inflexible, redundant, legacy architectures to highly responsive, mature Web infrastructures.

"AL Indigo`s focus on the Sub-Saharan African region and ability to deliver the complete solution from selling and implementation through to a sound support strategy, were key factors in our decision to appoint AL Indigo as a distributor," states Andrew Dutton, Senior Vice-President of BEA Systems for Europe, the Middle-East and Africa.

AL Indigo believes a number of characteristics set the company apart from its competitors in this market. As a key player in the IT market, the company has established successful partnerships in a number of industries. This combined with the company`s ability to sell, implement and support its product offerings on a basis of sound processes, methodologies and project management will ensure company growth not only in SA, but the rest of Africa too.

AL Indigo currently enjoys working relationships with several multinational companies in the telecommunications, banking and e-government vertical markets. The introduction of the BEA products to AL Indigo`s portfolio will further assist in growing business not only in SA, but also in several African countries including Botswana, Angola, Mozambique, Namibia, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Mauritius, Nigeria, Ghana and Cameroon.

"We are ready to begin selling and implementing BEA products," comments De Waal, "and we intend employing a further 12 to 15 people immediately." In the next 12 months, AL Indigo will be making a sizable investment in training its teams on BEA`s technology to ensure the company`s high levels of service delivery are maintained.

AL Indigo is confident the acquisition of BEA as a business partner will greatly influence the company`s ability to offer a complete enterprise software solution, while at the same time contribute to the company`s growth plans in the Sub-Saharan region.
