Alcatel today announced availability of the Alcatel 5530 Network Analyzer (NA), an advanced diagnostic software tool designed to analyse network conditions to ensure the successful deployment of value-added broadband services.
There is robust demand for broadband access around the world, and service providers are responding with aggressive plans to expand the reach and quality of their services, including the option to deliver voice, video and data over phone lines. The Alcatel Network Analyzer helps meet this goal by automating the process of line quality assessment and the continuous monitoring of service quality. This translates into faster time-to-market, guaranteed service delivery, and improved customer satisfaction.
"Broadband subscriber growth has been robust over the past three years," said Patrick Kelly, partner at industry analyst firm OSS Observer. "As demand surges, carriers have focused on automating activation and service assurance functions to support millions of new orders. Alcatel`s leadership position in the DSL market is now being extended to help service providers reduce operational cost and improve customer loyalty."
Alcatel has worked with more than 110 customers around the world in the deployment of their DSL networks. The Alcatel 5530 software tool allows the provider to proactively analyse existing copper lines to assess their ability to deliver "triple play" services (voice, data, and video). The Alcatel 5530 NA performs a number of tests to determine line quality and the connection between the central office and the subscriber`s premises. It can also identify any potential equipment issues, identify root causes and provide suggestions for the successful resolution of any problems. These actions are completed without impacting service delivery. Because the Alcatel 5530 is designed to detect and analyse network problems that lead to customer complaints, it reduces the time spent handling customer complaints and minimises the number of truck rolls, which in turn reduces operational expenses considerably.
"The needs of end-users are constantly changing," said Michel Rahier, Chief Operating Officer of Alcatel`s fixed networking activities. "The introduction of multimedia and live-stream services means that customers need more than just increased bit rates. They need stable, high-quality lines that are capable of delivering new services. They demand high service quality and expect quick resolution of any problems or they will take their business elsewhere. The Alcatel 5530 NA is the result of our experience working with customers around the world and is a must-have for service providers that want to provide the best service possible."
