Alcatel-Lucent brings VOIP to students

Alcatel-Lucent is collaborating with the Gwinnett County Public Schools agency in Georgia, US, to make classrooms more interactive, says TMCnet.

By reducing the telephone charges of Gwinnett County public schools and providing more interactive options in delivering lessons, a VOIP solution by Alcatel-Lucent will link 114 schools in Gwinnett.

Alcatel-Lucent says it will also provide its OmniTouch My Teamwork unified conferencing and collaboration solution to better connect teachers and homebound students.

Ixia unveils VOIP testing

Ixia, a supplier of IP test systems, has released the next generation in residential and business VOIP testing, says Business Wire.

Ixia's ultra-high performance, IxLoad Voice matches the capacity of modern media gateways with a one million session initiation protocol and real-time transport protocol-based endpoints per chassis.

IxLoad emulates user communities that vary in usage and timing. This approach yields performance results that accurately predict live- capacity - allowing service providers to correctly provision their networks.

Telekom Austria selects Nortel

Telekom Austria has selected Nortel and Kapsch CarrierCom to evolve its nationwide network to support VOIP technologies, states Trading Markets.

This will enable Telekom Austria to offer SIP communications services to consumer and business customers. The solution, based on Nortel's Communication Server 2000 is expected to allow Telekom Austria to migrate end-users' voice services to IP with no service interruptions.

Samih Elhage, president for carrier VOIP and application solutions at Nortel, says: "This project is also a further milestone in our successful partnership with Kapsch CarrierCom”.
