International ICT player Alcatel-Lucent has committed R1 million over the course of two years towards the establishment of a telecommunications and signal processing chair, at the Tshwane University of Technology.
The Paris- and New York-based company today announced it would invest in ICT skills development in SA as part of its corporate social investment responsibilities.
"The partnership is one of our efforts to help improve the quality of telecommunications studies and to augment the skills base in the industry," says Marvin Kamoetie, Alcatel-Lucent CEO in SA.
For the next two years, the company will give the university R500 000 per year for the project, which will be reviewed annually.
