Alcatel-Lucent unveils VOIP solution

Alcatel-Lucent has rolled out a secure VOIP solution designed to protect medium and large firms from the increasing attacks on IP networks, states vnunet.

The new secure voice offering combines Alcatel-Lucent's VPN Firewall Brick with its platform. The firewall is designed by Bell Labs, which was originally created to secure the US government's classified networks.

According Natalie Stallwood, Alcatel-Lucent's business development manager, there are an increasing number of vulnerabilities emerging in VOIP technology and companies need to make sure it's secure.

Alentus partnership to drive VOIP

Alentus, a Web hosting and centre provider, has signed a partnership with MyWorkplace Online, a managed voice service provider, to deliver integrated VOIP services to enterprises, says TMCnet

The companies say they will begin creating solutions packages using both VOIP and Web hosting services.

William King, CEO of Alentus, says: "We see VOIP services as a high value extension of our product line and believe that it will achieve significant penetration into our customer base.”

VOIP saves costs

Microsoft subsidiary Tellme is set to offer Global Crossing VOIP services and improved call automation as part of its contact centre offering, reports Fierce VOIP.

Tellme claims a customer can save up to 60% per minute by using the Global Crossing offering for its contact centre, while also eliminating transfer costs and lowering costs additionally with access to local number service.

Jamie Bertasi, senior director of Business Solutions at Tellme, says: “Our goal is to give enterprises technology that improves the customer experience but also affords them the ultimate financial flexibility when deploying voice services.”
