Almarai implements SAP HR solution

Saudi-based Almarai, an integrated dairy foods company, has successfully implemented the SAP ERP human capital management (HCM) solution, according to Al Bawaba

This is in efforts to increase the productivity of its workforce through the automation of HR processes.

“Almarai has enjoyed a strategic working partnership with SAP for almost a decade, and when we wanted to increase workforce productivity by streamlining internal processes, the company was a natural fit because of its industry-proven expertise in the HCM arena,” says Abdulrahman Al Turaigi, GM of support services, Almarai.

The sale of its human resources BPO unit to Northgate Arinso for just $100 million draws a line under Convergys's catastrophic venture into the market, but at the same time signals a major opportunity for the UK-based acquirer, states Ovum.

While most of the vendors competing in enterprise end-to-end HR BPO came unstuck in 2005 and 2006, the extent of Convergys's problems in the business did not become apparent until October 2008. From 2006 to 2009, Convergys's HR management unit racked up annual losses of $38.4 million, $38.3 million, $358.8 million, and $246.1 million.

With only $100 million from the sale against total losses of $681.6 million, Convergys's venture into HR can only be judged an unmitigated disaster.

Ceridian, a provider of managed HR, employee benefits administration, tax filing, payroll outsourcing and talent management solutions, has completed its payroll implementation for Fifth Third Processing Solutions, says Fox Business.

The company will also use Ceridian HRO to support its shared services HR environment.

"Partnering with Ceridian was the right choice for our new organisation for several reasons," comments Theresa Zizzo, executive officer and HR director at Fifth Third Processing Solutions.
