JSE-listed Altech says independent non-executive director Zakhele Sithole died on Sunday.
Sithole was the company's audit committee chairman. Altech did not indicate how he died, but expressed its condolences to the Sithole family.
According to Who's Who, Sithole was born in 1955 and was the executive chairman of Command Holdings, in addition to being the chairman of Sithole Incorporated.
He was appointed to the Altech board in 2008, and also sat on the boards of the Public Investment Corporation and South African National Parks.
Altech's Web site notes that Sithole had a BCom honours degree, as well as higher diplomas in tax and company law, and was a chartered accountant. He had 31 years' experience in the accounting and auditing profession.
