Allied Electronics Corporation (Altron) has appointed a lead independent director, as Bill Venter moves to a non-executive chairman position.
Mike Leeming will take up the role of the lead independent director from Monday. He has served on Altron's board as an independent non-executive director since 2002.
Leeming is chairman of the Altron risk management committee, as well as a member of the Altron audit and nomination committees. He also acts as chairman of the Powertech financial review and risk committee.
In addition to having previously acted as the chief operating officer of Nedcor Bank, Leeming is a non-executive director of AECI, Imperial, Real Africa and Woolworths.
A lead independent director coordinates the activities of the other non-management directors.
