Amazon expenses rise
Investors in Amazon reacted badly to reports that the company's expenses rose, but many analysts say those costs have risen for the right reasons and still have confidence in the stock, reports International Business Times.
Amazon announced increased operating expenses of 40% on marketing and distribution costs. As a result, shares of the company's stock fell to $106.40 at Friday's opening bell, down from $120.07 at Thursday's close.
This was all despite the company reporting a 41% year-over-year increase in revenue from $6.57 billion in the second quarter, compared with $4.65 billion last year.
Malta gets first e-commerce Web site
In what is a first for Malta in its sector, and what appears to be the widest application of e-commerce on the local market, Agenda Bookshop, Malta's leading bookshop chain, this week unveiled its international e-commerce Web site, states the Malta Independent Online.
With a range of over 1.5 million books and hand delivery straight to consumers' doors, the development could well be expected to give Web sites such as Play.com and Amazon a good run for their money with Maltese consumers.
Speaking at this week's release of the site, which has now gone live, Miller Distributors CEO Malcolm Miller underlined the convenience of using a trusted and respected local brand.

The high-end brand items include furnishings, kitchenware and home accessories, and a suitable Web site theme was needed to go with the range of products.
The new site was built using HTML script and CSS formatting with an intuitive site interface. Customers can view the products as thumbnails as well as in a larger format with price information and brief product description.
