Amazon intros GameCircle

Amazon released a series of APIs that focus on three core functions: achievements, leader boards and sync, which are intended to help developers easily integrate their apps into GameCircle.

Amazon says iOS and Android smash hit Temple Run will be one of the first games to take advantage of the new social features, The Inquirer notes.

Keith Shepherd, co-founder of the game's developer, Imangi Studios, said: "The new service is a great way to keep our fans engaged by offering them more opportunities to play the game, and an intuitive platform to connect with new players."

According to NVO News, Amazon GameCircle stands out from Apple's Game Centre with its cloud-syncing feature.

It will let games resume the titles on any device that has Internet connectivity.
