AMD's Phenom II gets Turbo Core
AMD will reportedly bring its Turbo Core power-optimising technology to its six-core Phenom II X6 Thuban desktop processor, writes eWeek.
Turbo Core is said to be like Intel's Turbo Boost feature, reducing power consumption in inactive cores while bumping up the power in active cores to improve performance.
According to AMD, Turbo Core will increase speeds on active codes by up to 500MHz, putting the core in a boost-eligible state when three or more cores aren't being used.
