AmVia, Siemens entice SME market with M2`s MessageMate

Johannesburg, 17 Jan 2002

Messaging solutions specialist, AmVia and Siemens South Africa, continue to rapidly penetrate the small to medium enterprise (SME) market with the feature-rich digital call management solution, MessageMate.

AmVia was appointed exclusive Southern African distributor of MessageMate, the solid-state, all-in-one digital call management solution from Australian-based digital business communications company, M2 Technology, in May 2001.

Since then, AmVia and six-year business partner, Siemens, have already achieved multimillion-rand sales across a number of vertical markets, including the retail, financial sectors, automotive and wine industries.

Ron Borlase, product manager messaging systems: Siemens South Africa, says MessageMate met customers` demand for a low-cost system. It is also an easy to use and install voice messaging system that could be bundled with its telephony products, especially the HICOM 100 and 300 Private Automatic Branch Exchange (PABX) ranges.

"In addition to its cost-effectiveness and reliability, MessageMate offers added value beyond voicemail, including auto-attendant, call diversion, after-hours messaging, menu-driven information lines and information-on-hold."

A new version of MessageMate, which will support up to eight ports, will be launched early in the first quarter of 2002 and Siemens will be one of first field trial sites to stress test the product.

"This next-generation MessageMate makes available a larger number of mailboxes and enhanced options on the auto-attendant, but still at an appropriate price for the SME market," he says. "This will provide yet another boost to AmVia`s and Siemens` penetration of the SME market."

Vaughan Bowen, group managing director for the M2 group of companies, says AmVia`s success with the MessageMate range lies especially in it being able to offer Siemens a tailored messaging solution.

"MessageMate combines the feature set and flexibility usually reserved for high-end, top-dollar, PC-dependant messaging solutions. It does so in a single, maintenance-free digital box, satisfying the price-conscious SME marketplace in a way that has not been possible before."

The M2/AmVia partnership has taken another step forward via the recent signing of an exclusive distribution agreement with AmVia`s New Zealand operation, which is already bearing positive results, Bowen concludes.
