Analytix partners with (ISC)^2 to offer the CISSP CBK review seminar and examinations in South Africa

Johannesburg, 23 Oct 2008

(ISC)^2 and Analytix have announced their cooperation in offering the only official CISSP CBK review seminar and the CISSP examinations in South Africa.

According to Johan Botha, Analytix Managing Director: “Analytix has been appointed as the official affiliate partner for (ISC)^2 in South Africa. The addition of (ISC)^2's Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification to the Analytix product portfolio, provides South African information security professionals access to a globally recognised standard of achievement.”

The CISSP credential, the first ISO accredited credential in the field of information security, demonstrates competence in the 10 domains of the (ISC)^2 CISSP CBK.

According to John Colley (ISC)^2, Manager Europe, Middle East and Africa: “The decision to appoint a new South African partner, was made based on Analytix's track record over the last seven years as a provider of high quality management training to over 300 South African organisations. This initiative to jointly market the only official CISSP CBK review seminar and the CISSP examinations provides (ISC)^2 access to the Analytix training and marketing infrastructure, as well as the benefit of Rand-based pricing.”

Analytix will lead the marketing, promotion, registration and back-office support of all related CISSP events in South Africa, and (ISC)^2 will deliver the official (ISC)^2 CISSP CBK review seminars.

This CISSP CBK practical, five-day, authorised instructor-led course is designed to ensure that the delegates:

* Obtain the skills and knowledge of the core competencies required of an information systems security professional, whether planning to sit for the examination or not, which they would have achieved in a structured learning environment;
* Gain practical insight into the 10 CISSP domains of the Common Body of Knowledge and have thoroughly prepared for the certification examination in a systematic way;
* Master the concepts and topics related to all aspects of information systems security.

The (ISC)^2 CISSP CBK review seminar is being held at The Wanderers Club, Illovo from 17 to 21 November, 2008.

CISSP Examinations

The CISSP Examination follows a multiple-choice format and consists of one six-hour paper containing 250 multiple-choice questions with four choices each. The examination tests a candidate's knowledge of IS audit principles and practices as well as technical content areas. The exam covers the ten content areas (domains) and those tasks that are routinely performed by a CISSP. The passing grade required is a scale score of 700 out of a possible 1000 points on the grading scale.

In order to qualify to sit for the examination, the candidate should have at least four full years of experience in information security or four years of professional experience in the information security field in addition to a university degree.
