Analytix review courses assist CISA and CISM examination candidates

Johannesburg, 08 Oct 2008

IT Governance and Cobit specialists, Analytix, has trained clients from top level CIO's to junior IT auditors, and is expanding its product offering yet again to cater for the dynamically changing market needs.

We spoke to Analytix's Managing Director, Johan Botha about two exciting upcoming Review courses on the background information, requirements and preparation for the CISA and CISM examinations.

Q: Johan, what is Analytix's field of specialisation?
A: Analytix is a training and consultancy firm that assists organisations to understand, implement and comply with industry best practice standards and frameworks that lead to sustained process and business improvement. We meet the training, education, awareness and consulting needs of organisations in the areas of corporate governance, risk and compliance, strategy and performance management, business continuity and information management, IT management, process, project and asset management, and safety, health, environment and quality management.

Our services are underpinned by internationally accepted IT management practices based on a range of de facto industry frameworks and standards, which are used by organisations worldwide to develop competent and efficient organisations and/or departments.

Q: What are the CISA and CISM certifications respectively?
A: Both the CISA and CISM certifications are more than entry-level certifications.

CISA certification is for the individual who manages the business expectations of an information system, applies best IT practices, and/or assesses whether the information systems meets these expectations and best practices.

CISM certification is for information security professionals who manage, design, oversee and/or assess an enterprise's information security(IS).

Both the CISA and CISM certifications promote international practices and provide executive management with assurance that those earning the designation have the required experience and knowledge to perform an information systems audit (CISA) and to provide effective security management and consulting services (CISM).

Q: What is the value of CISA and CISM certification?
A: Whether your reasoning behind obtaining CISA/CISM certification is to improve technical knowledge, to enhance your professional image, to obtain credentials or to be included with like-minded professionals who have gained worldwide recognition, these certifications will enhance an individual's career and performance significantly.

According to a recent Isaca survey on Information Security Career Progression, CISM comes in as the second-highest paid IT certification*. Likewise, the CISM course adds considerable value to delegates in their career development.

CISA/CISM certification will be a valuable addition to a network of professionals worldwide who share a common pursuit of knowledge and innovation in a constantly evolving IT environment.

Q: What is the reasoning behind hosting the CISA and CISM review courses?
A: Many of Analytix's training course delegates return to Analytix either for advanced training or training in a different field in our areas of expertise.

Our delegates have expressed the need for an intensive “bootcamp” or review course for both the Isaca CISA and CISM certification examinations.

Due to the market demand and the impact of the application of CISA and CISM in the marketplace, it was decided that an intensive five-day examination preparation and revision course in CISA/CISM would positively contribute to the field of information management and general organisational performance.

Q: What is the purpose of the training courses?
A: The objectives of intensive CISA/CISM training are to:
* Take delegates through the syllabus and modules in a logical and efficient manner
* Prepare for the examinations through sample exams, question guidance etc.
* Dedicate ample time for the preparation for CISA/CISM exams
* Leave adequate time after the course to fill gaps and improve identified weaknesses, since the review courses take place a month prior to the examination date of 13 December 2008

Q: Johan, what is the difference between this course and the Isaca review courses?
A: This intensive five-day is not intended to compete with Isaca's own training, but rather to complement Isaca's offering and to meet the market demand of a more comprehensive, in-depth review course.

Q: What are the prerequisites for the course?
A: In addition to basic information security knowledge, delegates will have to formally register with Isaca as a candidate for the CISA/CISM examination. Delegates furthermore need to bring their study material received from Isaca as part of the registration process to the course.

Analytix will provide additional training material around the syllabus.

Q: How can delegates register for the Isaca CISA/CISM examinations?
A: To register for the CISA/CISM examinations, please click through to http://www.isaca.org.za/other.asp?page=Event&eId=89

The exam fee for Isaca Members is R1 653 (excl. VAT) and for Non- Isaca members R2 109 (excl. VAT).
