ANC brings membership under control with CACH'E, Wisdom

Wisdom Systems, an application partner of InterSystems South Africa, has developed and deployed a membership database application for the ANC that runs on the CACH'E post-relational database.

Development of the database application began in February and roll-out commenced at the end of April last year. It was rolled out at all levels, including ANC headquarters in Johannesburg, and at the provincial, regional and branch levels. The application allows the ANC to manage its membership information from beginning to end, analyse the data and run queries against it.

"The database allows interrogation of membership information that assists planning, so the party can tell, for instance, how many females versus males belong to the ANC, whether or not people are employed and member occupations. The information helps the party to communicate with members and structure its membership system and processes," says Joe Lukhele, MD of Wisdom Systems.

"Being Web-based, the solution is cost-effective in that staff receive simple and brief onsite instruction and the solution does not require that the ANC have any special skills to administer it," says Lukhele.

CACH'E, InterSystems` post-relational database for e-applications, is optimised for the Web and has an integrated rapid application development environment with advanced object technology. It offers developers the benefits of both object and relational databases.

"We used CACH'E Server Pages to develop the application where Weblink had been used in the previous system. CACH'E Server Pages allowed us to dynamically create a Web front-end quickly with excellent performance," says Lukhele.
