Anglo Zimbabwe selects Intenda`s Proqure for strategic sourcing

Johannesburg, 15 Oct 2001

After an initial investigation earlier this year, Anglo Zimbabwe selected to purchase and implement the Proqure solution from Intenda (Pty) Ltd, a Centurion-based software solutions house.

Proqure is a comprehensive approach to online and offline strategic pre- and sourcing, which integrates easily with systems integrated earlier over the Y2K scare. Proqure helps to optimise the , which can immediately reduce strategic pre-procurement costs and offer measurable return on investment.

After assessing the scope and deliverables of the project, Intenda completed the preparation for installation at Anglo Zimbabwe, in SA, then flew the necessary resources to Zimbabwe for final implementation; training and initial hand-over.

Moses Matemezano of Anglo Zimbabwe says: "From date of supplying Intenda with our core from our MIMS systems, the system was up and running, ready for deployment and training within eight weeks. This included system readiness, MIMS interfaces, base data loaded and the deployment of the Web interface, in our own colours and branding. In the world of IT solutions today, it is impressive that one can still find and implement strategic business systems at relatively low cost."

Mike Stevenson, another Anglo Zimbabwe official, further states: "We believe that through the use of Proqure, significant savings in our pre-procurement and tendering process will be made, and that the ROI on the investment made in Intenda`s product will be recouped by the end of 2001."

Anglo Zimbabwe has been running the system across two sites since late August, giving its supplier community enough time to become Web-enabled. Within the first weeks of October, the system will only be accessible via the GlobalTender.net portal (www.globaltender.net), an electronic tender portal available on the Internet by Intenda. The significance of doing electronic business across the portal is that Anglo Zimbabwe will now be accessible to many more suppliers, both in Africa and ultimately internationally, which should drive down costs, and ultimately making pricing from suppliers more competitive. Critically it allows Intenda an income stream but permits access to the world which should lead to cost savings for Anglo Zimbabwe.

Etienne Fourie of Intenda states: "The positive way and enthusiasm with which Anglo Zimbabwe embraced the product and the project was fantastic. One of the major implementation challenges of Proqure is to change old habits and methods of sourcing. Anglo Zimbabwe needed no convincing in this area, and since going live has already used the system to its fullest potential, so full in fact that they are driving our development guys to keep full functionality. Intenda is proud to be associated with a customer like Anglo Zimbabwe, who is ready to embrace leading-edge solutions for ultimate business benefit."
