Annex serves up prime energy with Fujitsu Siemens Computers PRIMERGY TX200 Server

Johannesburg, 06 Jan 2004

The PRIMERGY TX200 Dual-Processor Tower Server, released by Fujitsu Siemens Computers and available through ANNEX Distribution, is positioned to provide versatile, high performance server technology.

Powered by Intel Xeon processors, the PRIMERGY TX200 is designed to run business-critical applications 24x7x365. Integral to the design and development of the PRIMERGY TX200 was high performance, availability and scalability, and the server is one that can grow alongside business requirements.

Special fields of use for PRIMERGY TX200 could be as an intranet or Internet server, communications server for gateways, domains, firewalls and the Web. It is ideally suited to all applications within client/server architectures.

"Fujitsu Siemens Computers has added a new dimension to its existing TX range. The versatility of the PRIMERGY TX200 makes it adaptable to a variety of environments. It has appeal as an all-round workgroup server for small and medium enterprises where ease of maintenance, high availability and reliable server operations in addition to good performance are prerequisites.

"Alternatively, it can work as a branch computer in small branch offices, where high availability is required but little technical know-how is present," explains Bill Gradwell, General Manager at ANNEX.

The system delivery includes the server management products ServerStart and ServerView. Other technical highlights include:

* Latest Intel Xeon processors with up to 2.80MHz, 512KB SLC and 533MHz FSB

* Up to 12GB 2-way interleaved DDR-SDRAM memory with Chipkill support and hot-spare memory option

* 2-channel Ultra320 SCSI controller with integrated RAID-1 (hard disk mirroring) functionality (HostRAID) and low cost

* Onboard 1GB Ethernet controller

* Six hot-plug hard disks, optional extendable by 3 for up to 9 hot-plug hard disks

* The optional RemoteView Service Board (RSB) enhances the remote functionality, eg with graphical console redirection and provides high-level security through its own LAN port and SSL encryption
