ANZ shifts staff to Capgemini

will offload 360 staff to French IT firm Capgemini as part of a global outsourcing agreement covering information technology testing services, Australian IT reports.

The bank said about 110 permanent staff in Melbourne and another 250 staff at its Bangalore facility, in India, would be offered comparable roles with Capgemini with similar entitlements.

The fate of the bank's contract and casual staff involved with the outsourcing move is unknown.

Reuters reports that Capgemini won the contract after a rigorous evaluation and due diligence process by ANZ. Under the terms of the agreement, Capgemini will provide ANZ with significant operational flexibility and control to help accelerate ANZ's technology transformation programme, drawing on Capgemini's unique worldwide delivery and sourcing model, RightshoreR, its extensive financial services expertise and testing capabilities.

As part of the agreement, ANZ's 360-strong IT Test Services team in Melbourne and Bangalore will transfer to Capgemini, which will consolidate all software testing into one team, including testing services provided by more than 40 different suppliers. The move to a single supplier will provide clear accountability for testing delivery as well as greater efficiency and access to a large, flexible and scalable resource pool.

The agreement with ANZ consolidates Capgemini's position as the leading testing and Quality Assurance company in Australia and New Zealand. The agreement will leverage the global best practice offered through Capgemini Group's Global Testing Service, with access to more than 9 500 qualified and certified testing specialists worldwide focused on application, hardware/device and infrastructure testing and Capgemini's Financial Services practice with deep domain expertise and award-winning quality assurance tools, methodologies and accelerators for leading financial institutions.
