AOL intros self-service ad platform

AOL has unveiled a beta version of Ad Desk, an ad service tool that will enable mid-level advertisers to deliver their own campaigns, states iMedia Connection.

Theoretically, users can build and manage units on AOL and Ad.com without having to report to an executive.

The self service tool will be open to advertisers large and small.

Verizon streamlines consumer portal

Verizon Communications has introduced a streamlined version of its My Verizon portal, says Light Reading.

The portal is part of the service provider's ongoing efforts to make customer self-service easier and more effective.

Pat Smith, director of telecom regional operations for Verizon, told the event audience the goal of the changes is to make it easier for customers to get more done on the MyVerizon portal, including access to all their services and features in one place, eliminating a separate Verizon.net portal for e-mail.

Self-service passport kiosks revealed

Singaporeans and foreigners alike are looking forward to collecting their biometric passports, cards and long term passes from self-service iCollect kiosk across the island, writes Straits Times.

These iCollect kiosks work by dispensing relevant documents after one's identity has been verified via biometrics. They have a robotic arm which retrieves a passport from its capsule.

The kiosks will operate even after office hours.
