Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) vendor American Power Conversion (APC) has appointed local distributor UPScom to bring its high-end products to market. In the two-tier model, UPScom will sell and service APC`s three families of high-end UPSs directly to customers.
UPScom, owned by JSE-listed Square One Solutions Group, will sell the Silicon three-phase range of UPS (from 10kVA to 480kVA); the Symmetra Power Array family up to 16kVA, and direct current (DC) UPSs.
UPScom`s staff members have already been trained on the APC range. "Our strength is not distribution. The people we have are really experts in the field," says Neill Schreiber, UPScom MD. "The market that APC wants us to sell the equipment to is where we have experience."
"APC`s recent introduction of DC power products and the requirements for further penetration into the local three-phase market highlighted the need for appointing UPScom as a High Power Partner," says Carl Kleynhans, country manager, APC Southern Africa.
UPScom is APC`s second High Power Partner locally, the first being local UPS manufacturer and distributor Meissner.
