Apex Cash Control Solutions (Apex CCS) has recently secured sole distribution rights for Washington-based POSitive Software`s Point of Sale (POS) solutions. This addition to Apex`s existing software offerings - QUEST (POS) and StarFleet Software - will provide the local retailers with yet another powerful POS software product, geared to meet SA pricing expectations.
The distribution rights deliver a solution that is focused on the general retail market, and features built-in functionality such as serial number tracking, workshop job card tracking, lay-buy`s, label printing, customer loyalty, eCommerce facility and a multi-store module.
"This deal is significant as the local market will benefit from software that is priced for South African conditions. POSitive for Windows is currently available over the Internet at a much higher price than we are offering to users in the local market," says Peter Held, managing director at Apex CCS.
"The South African retail price is approximately 25% lower than other international countries. An additional benefit is that the software is purchased as a `once-off` investment with no annual licence fees, making it a truly affordable solution. The multi-user version also delivers its own value proposition - it is done on a `per site` basis rather `per point` - making it affordable to both the small and large enterprise," he says. "The multi-user version (more than one workstation), allows a company to run as many workstations as they like without increasing software license costs (site-license)."
"It was not an easy task to convince POSitive in the United States to make their software available at a South African price. However, they understood the challenges facing the local market such as importing and licence fees, and the impact of the exchange rate that inflates the price of imported software solutions. Our aggressive pricing, combined with the power and flexibility of POSitive for Windows software, makes this a probably the most attractive retail management solution for the local market."
POSitive Software is designed as a focussed PoS system rather than an add-on or `cash drawer` to an accounting system as with many other products. This ensures a more feature-rich product that is designed exactly according to POS requirements.
Features include a colour/size/style matrix, making POSitive software suitable for clothing and shoe stores. Any business requiring serial number tracking, or lay-buys will benefit from this software as the serial numbers of items are kept on record. This is particularly useful to automatically track warrantees on these items as the warranty period is coupled with the serial number, eliminating laborious manual paperwork searches. The solution also makes a simple task of establishing how much product is in stock and what has been sold through these serial numbers.
The solution is also tailored to businesses that make use of workshop job cards and invoicing. For example, services can be tracked and information is placed on record, allowing companies to establish the history of a product such as a vehicle. This is tracked through the serial number that automatically attaches to the relating job card with historical information. The solution tracks parts and progress of the repairs performed, providing accurate information and history relating to the work completed.
The software`s built-in eCommerce facility allows for certain items to be highlighted and as information relating to these items are changed - such as pricing - this is automatically updated to the website. This allows clients to access accurate information relating to a product on the website. Furthermore, they are able to place their orders via the website where an email is generated and the order is imported directly into the system, generating an order through the back-end procurement system.
The multi-store module creates a centralised master stock file at the head office of a company with branches linked into this central system. Any changes to the items are automatically uploaded and sales data is batched through from the branch to head office on a regular basis, creating better management of stock control and sales figures. The multi-store option is ideally suited to organizations with a single head-office and multiple branches.
The software is suitable for single-point, owner-run stores, as well as large stores with multiple branches. The current version runs on a TopSpeed database that was developed under the Clarion Enterprise system. A SQL version will be released soon.
The entry-level product retails at R2 400.00 and the top-of-the-line system - featuring unlimited users - retails at about R11 250.00 (at the time of going to press). A fully functional demo version (with limited transactions) is available on request, by contacting Apex CCS.
Apex CCS sells its imported hard and software POS products through resellers, and offers a comprehensive range of POS products for the hospitality, general retail and hotel sector.
