App converts smartphones into remote controls
Digital Trends reports.
Although the apps have similar names, that's where their similarities end. Clik is a new platform that links users' browser-friendly screens and turns smartphones into truly universal remotes.
Plenty of smart TV users have been able to navigate their living room screens with the help of tablets packaged as accessories, built-in apps manufacturers include in their line-up of smart products, or standalone applications, that unite the TV with a tablet or smartphone. But now the technology has been expanded for those with lowly computer screens they want to remotely control- and it's incredibly easy.
The way Clik works is simple, Droid Matters notes. Simply head over to ClikThis.com with your desktop browser (or TV browser).
The site then generates a unique QR code that you scan with the Clik app for your Android (or iOS) device. Once the scan is complete, your smartphone is now in control of that browser window. At the moment, the Clik app for Android allows you to view and control YouTube videos on a bigger screen, directly from your phone.
The application is amazingly fast, too. Pick a video, hit play, and it instantly appears on your screen. There is virtually no lag when viewing videos or when pausing, fast-forwarding, rewinding, and changing volume. Simply control from your phone and the changes sync with the browser.
