Appian, Mega team up

Business process management (BPM) software maker Appian has partnered with Mega to bring process analysis capabilities to its platform, writes SD Times.

The partnership provides a product called Appian Process Architect by Mega, which enables Appian customers to view business process analysis results that are passed from Mega's process modelling software.

Specifically, Appian BPM users may incorporate Mega's process performance statistics in their activity monitoring workflow. It also provides business process modelling notation process models for all Appian-managed processes.

IBM extends BPM in WebSphere

IBM last week expanded its WebSphere middleware offering with a slew of new tools aimed at facilitating BPM and service-oriented architectures, according to Visual Studio Magazine.

At the heart of the new roll-out is BPM BlueWorks, a set of cloud-based tools and content that IBM said will let developers learn how to build and deploy dynamic processes.

BPM BlueWorks enables modelling and simulation that ultimately is designed to help developer shops learn how to build and roll out capabilities that can respond to dynamic business processes, according to IBM.

IT managers under pressure

The pressure to achieve business efficiency and sustainability is piled on IT managers more than anyone else in business, according to a new IDC survey, states Computerworld.

Some 74% of managers involved in sustainability said IT managers are given the main responsibility, the survey found. In addition, 68% said senior management also addressed the issue, but IDC highlighted this was falling as immediate financial concerns took precedence in the recession.

Facilities and business operations management played a role in 58% and 56% of businesses respectively, according to the survey of 150 managers in the UK.
