Apple upgrades to Intel Core 2 Duo
Apple is upgrading the Macbook Pros to include the Intel Core 2 Duo processor, reports ABC News.
Apple`s iMac desktops made the transition to the Core 2 Duos last month. Now, Apple`s core is officially refreshed, upgrading the Macbook Pros to the Intel Core 2 Duo, but not the Macbooks.
The Macbook Pro 15- and 17-inch laptops will make the leap to the Intel Core 2 Duos. As with the 20- and 24-inch iMacs, the 15- and 17-inch Macbook Pros will let users select the Intel Core 2 Duo T7400 (2.16GHz) and up to 3GB of RAM.
McAfee denies being ill-prepared for Vista
McAfee has hit back at comments made by rival security firm Sophos alleging that it has not adequately prepared for Microsoft`s forthcoming Vista operating system, reports vunet.
Siobhan MacDermott, VP of worldwide corporate communications, McAfee, argued that Sophos is a firm that only needs to prepare its anti-virus products for Vista, and so has had a much easier task preparing for Vista than "full service" security companies such as McAfee.
"It is crucial that readers understand the difference between McAfee and those companies that focus on anti-virus software alone. Single-product vendors, like Sophos, may well not have an issue with Microsoft," said MacDermott.
Sony to block PS3 Euro imports
Sony has said it will use the "full scope of the law" to block the importing of PlayStation 3 (PS3) into Europe before its official release, reports BBC News.
The much-anticipated game console goes on sale in the US and Japan next month, but is not out in Europe until 2007. Last week, a British judge ruled that Hong Kong import/export firm Lik-Sang could not sell the Japanese version of Sony`s handheld PSP in Europe.
The case sets a precedent for would-be importers of the PS3 console.
