Applying ITIL: Business Connexion establishes partnership with Pink Elephant

Johannesburg, 24 Aug 2005

Strengthening its already vigorous application of best practices, Business Connexion has forged a partnership with Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) specialist Pink Elephant.

The relationship effectively gives Business Connexion and its clients an impartial external evaluation of best practice application in the field, as well as international certification for all ITIL educational resources.

Pink Elephant is an independent provider of IT service management conferences, education and consulting. A global organisation, Pink Elephant works with an extensive array of public and private sector clients to improve the quality of IT services through the application of the established best practice, ITIL.

According to Marius Lotter, divisional executive of Business Connexion`s Business Consulting Competency, the company has delivered consulting and foundation training based on ITIL recommendations for the past three years.

"We have developed skills and methodologies that apply these concepts and which are aligned to the international markets. With the conclusion of this partnership with Pink Elephant, we will be educating our staff further on the ITIL guidelines. We will also be in a position to offer certified ITIL education to clients as part of our consulting services," he says.

Significantly, Lotter says Business Connexion and its clients will benefit from impartial assessments of its implementations of ITIL recommendations.

"Pink Elephant`s PinkScan IT Service Management Maturity Assessment is a credible third-party evaluation of process or technology implementation. This service will equip us to iteratively improve our services deployment. It also gives our clients access to an external verification of our application of the ITIL standards," he explains.

Neil Petford, regional director: Africa at Pink Elephant, says the company is a leading ITIL practitioner with offices in 11 countries around the world. "We have been involved with ITIL since its inception in 1987. Our application of the standards is impartial, highly focused and geared towards helping companies to maximise the value they receive from IT service management," he says.

"By applying ITIL best practices, companies benefit from improved efficiencies through the establishment of an integrated, process-based, best practice framework for managing IT services. Through our relationship, Business Connexion can offer clients the entire ITIL training path, from Awareness to Practitioners, with international certification on all training," he adds.

Demand for ITIL-certified technology implementations is expected to grow sharply in SA, continues Petford. "With the need for effective corporate governance high on the agenda, ITIL recommendations are geared to help conformity from a technology perspective," he says.
