ApplyIT certified as Microsoft Business Solutions Partner

Johannesburg, 02 Mar 2004

ApplyIT, the local IT specialist for the mining and process manufacturing industry, has achieved partner certification for Microsoft Business Solutions-Axapta, Microsoft`s high-end ERP product. This follows the certification of a number of the company`s consultants on Microsoft-Axapta.

"Microsoft has effectively raised the bar for partners who want to support its business solutions," says Gavin Halse, MD of ApplyIT. "The certification requirements are very stringent, and partners wanting to obtain certification are required to demonstrate that they have the required skills in place, and that they are maintaining and investing in those skills."

The certification programme is vital from Microsoft`s Business Solutions` perspective, to ensure that its partners have the necessary skills to implement and support its solutions. ERP implementations, in particular, are complex and span many areas of a company`s business. Successful ERP implementations require an in-depth understanding of a customer`s business, and a carefully planned and executed project.

"Microsoft-Axapta is a key part of our company`s long-term strategy and we have invested heavily in the certification process, making us one of the few companies in the country to pass Microsoft`s rigorous requirements," adds Halse.

"As a partner, ApplyIT has to maintain an in-depth skills and knowledge base for Microsoft-Axapta, to ensure that we can offer clients an application that solves real business dilemmas. As a certified Business Solutions partner, we have access to Microsoft`s project implementation methodology, best practices and reference sites. This is of great benefit to our clients, as is the fact that we can leverage the Microsoft skills base to meet our clients` needs. Because most of our customers have a Microsoft-centric strategy, they will now be able to get the best out of their systems through one holistic approach."

Halse says ApplyIT has been impressed with Microsoft`s forward-thinking roadmap for the product. "Microsoft-Axapta is perfectly architected to integrate into Microsoft`s broader .NET strategy, and with Microsoft`s backing, we are confident it will survive the current turmoil in the ERP market. "The commonality of the Microsoft technology environment means that clients can have all their business requirements delivered through one desktop."

Microsoft-Axapta is one of the flagship applications in Microsoft`s Business Solutions portfolio for the manufacturing sector. It has a rich set of features and is suited to companies of all sizes. Another advantage of the product is that it originates from Europe, and has been developed from the outset to deal with multiple language, legislative and currency issues, as well as other complexities involved in global business.

"Our team of consultants has extensive experience in ERP implementations in mining and process manufacturing. We believe that, with Microsoft`s backing, Microsoft-Axapta is well positioned to become a leading player in the ERP market. By combining our in-depth understanding of the mining and process manufacturing industries, with a best-of-breed product such as Microsoft-Axapta, we will be able to provide a compelling offering to companies in these industries." says Halse.

In addition to Microsoft Business Solutions certification, ApplyIT will be working to integrate its own software products in the areas of plant maintenance and SHE-Q (safety, health, environment and quality) with Microsoft-Axapta, providing a comprehensive solution to South African manufacturers.
