ApplyIT certified as MS-Axapta partner

Johannesburg, 10 Feb 2004

A local IT company has obtained partner certification for Microsoft`s high-end enterprise resource planning (ERP) product, Microsoft Business Solutions-Axapta.

ApplyIT, which focuses on the mining and process manufacturing industry, says it is the second company in SA to obtain this certification.

Gavin Halse, ApplyIT MD, says the partnership will provide the company with access to Microsoft resources, which will better equip it to meet clients` needs.

Halse believes Microsoft-Axapta is better suited to the SA market because, unlike tier-one ERP solutions, it is viable for smaller companies as well. "Only extremely large global corporations can afford to use tier-one ERP. Microsoft-Axapta can reduce costs by 50%."

While Halse concedes that the ERP industry is in a difficult position, he does not see this as a major problem.

"Hostile takeovers have created uncertainty within the ERP market, and many companies have had to undergo significant change. However, we believe Microsoft has a strong and stable position in the market, and are confident that Microsoft-Axapta will survive the current turmoil."

ApplyIT marketing manager Tineke Smith says the company has plans to develop the . "We are in a position now where we want to take a good product and add value to it. We want to integrate our own software into Microsoft-Axapta in order to make it more applicable to our specific sector."
