As a consequence of MGX`s recent acquisition of the CCH businesses, the group has taken the opportunity to reconstitute the board of directors. The new appointments are:
Aletha Ling, formerly the chief executive officer of CCH, Aletha will add her considerable strengths and experience in IT, strategy formulation and new business development to MGX`s existing executive directorate.
Patrick Landey has been appointed non-executive deputy chairman, with particular responsibility for ensuring the group`s observance of good corporate governance practice. After completing a CA Patrick subsequently pursued a career in South Africa`s emerging IT sector, and in eight years, including a two-year stint overseas, rose to the position of managing director of HP South Africa. In 1995 he took on the dual responsibility of MD of HiPerformance Systems and Siltek and subsequently negotiated HP`s repurchase of its South African operations in 1997 and stayed on as temporary MD to ensure a smooth transition back to the American parent.
Since 1998 Patrick has been pursuing his own business interests. Patrick`s wide local and international experience should bring a wealth of operational and IT experience to the board. His contribution to the group is expected to be considerable, both on matters of strategy and on ensuring a high standard of corporate governance.
Thierry Dalais, Executive Deputy Chairman of Brait, has been appointed as a non-executive director. Brait`s private equity funds are significant shareholders in MGX. Thierry will represent Brait`s interests on the MGX board. Eduardo Garcia has been appointed as an alternate non-executive director to Thierry.
The reconstituted board of MGX has a good balance between non-executive directors and executive directors. Each of the executive directors are substantial shareholders in MGX.
Graham Hamilton and Mike Judin have recently resigned from the board and we thank them both for their valuable contributions to the strategic decisions of the company since its listing.
