Arab tech convergence summit spurs opportunity

The ninth Arab Advisors Convergence Summit is preparing to kick off this month in Jordan and will deliberate ICT market trends and growth strategies, including cloud-based services, ITP.net reports.

Jawad Jalal Abbassi, founder and GM of Arab Advisors Group, says: "Convergence dynamics and the rise of cloud-based services are markedly impacting the regional landscape. Start-ups are mushrooming in many Arab markets to leverage the new opportunities.”

The Summit aims to tackle the role of media, broadband and the overall telecommunication industry in building a networked society, AMEInfo.com states.

Topics such as convergent media and communications trends, online and social media will be highlighted at the event by Ericsson's speakers.

Ghassan Hasbani, CEO of STC International, says the industry is undergoing transformational changes, which coincides with a prolonged economic downturn in the region, Trade Arabia says.

Hasbani adds: “This calls for a right angle turn in the way we operate in order to energise the engine for the next wave of growth.”
