Argosy, Belden partner

Two suppliers to the broadcast industry, Belden and Argosy, have joined forces to meet the needs of the professional audio-visual communities in the UK, states 4rfv.co.uk

Under the terms of the agreement, Argosy will distribute Belden's entire range of products, designed specifically to further support audio-visual professionals. In broadcast, top performance and reliability require absolute signal integrity and no system downtime.

Belden products provide performance for both critical field applications (where cable is dragged, crunched and trodden on) and permanent studio installations (where the long run is all important).

University invests in AV lab

Tribhuvan University (TU) has allocated Rs 2.5 million (R396 000) for the establishment of an audio-visual lab for the central department of journalism and mass communication, writes The Himalayan Times.

Prabal Raj Pokharel, head of the department, said the allocated amount would be used for purchasing different equipment required for the establishment of the lab in the department.

TU has introduced 'broadcasting media' as one of the courses under the department, but was unable to provide practical to its students in the absence of a lab, says Pokharel.

Ableton releases Max for Live

Ableton and Cycling '74 have released Max for Live, which integrates the Max/MSP audio-visual programming language with Ableton's Live 8 digital-audio workstation, says PC World.

Co-developed by Ableton and Cycling '74, Max for Live opens up the Live platform, allowing users to create and edit their own devices. Max for Live creations are integrated into Live's interface and workflow, just like native Ableton instruments and effects.

Users can create unique synths and effects, algorithmic composition tools, or hybrid hardware and software music machines. Those who don't want to build their own devices can access Max for Live's collection of instruments and effects, which are pre-made and ready to use alongside Live's native devices, the company says.
