Ariba wins patent infringement suit
According to spend and contract management solutions provider Ariba, the US court of appeals has affirmed that Emptoris' electronic sourcing product infringes two Ariba patents, says Earth Times.
Ariba was awarded $7 million after the court found that Emptoris' infringement of the patent was wilful.
David Middler, Ariba senior vice-president and general counsel, says: “We are pleased with today's decision, as it not only affirms the strength and breadth of Ariba's intellectual property portfolio, but makes clear that no other vendor can provide the comprehensive features and functionality needed to help companies manage their costs, risk and cash that Ariba delivers.”
CA buys out Oblicore
CA has acquired Oblicore, a service level management software supplier for enterprises and service providers, according to Information Management.
Oblicore's contract management system enables IT managers to compare information to service level contracts. Oblicore's solutions also extend CA's capabilities in cloud computing.
"It's relevant for CIOs trying to explain what is going on in their environment and the benefits for their organisations," explains Jay Fry, CA VP of business unit strategy. "Service level managers can tell if they are getting what they are supposed to be for the business."
