Ariel Technologies, Ernst and Young in B2B alliance

Johannesburg, 03 Oct 2000

Ariel Technologies, which recently announced its HUB-21 B2B , has entered into an electronic commerce alliance agreement with Ernst & Young.

eTrade Solutions, the e-commerce subsidiary of Ariel Technologies, rocketed into a market leadership position recently when it announced a technology-sharing and joint marketing agreement with TradeWorld, part of the Johnnic stable.

Under the agreement the two companies will share their customers creating a supplier base of 18 500, by far the country`s largest.

The new agreement will provide the TradeWorld/HUB-21 axis with advisory and consulting skills, provided by Ernst & Young for its customers.

Says Ernst & Young`s Director of Information Systems, Assurances and Advisory Services (ISAAS) Rowan Waller: "The two companies showed us their view of Electronic Commerce and the way it needed to be integrated with business practice and and there was a perfect fit with our thinking. TradeWorld and HUB-21 clearly spell out to large customers what they need to do to get the maximum from e-commerce - we are able to provide a blueprint to do it."

Says eTrade Solutions MD, Malcolm Dunkeld: "E-commerce integration with your business solutions is a given. We don`t even charge for it as it is so obviously part of the business.

"Integration with your business practice, your strategies and your people is far more complex. You can use e-commerce to make more money or to provide a better service, or both. We are convinced that Ernst & Young understands the dynamics of what is a very delicate trade-off - and one that could well decide your business future."

Waller maintains that Ernst & Young is uniquely positioned to provide advisory service around e-commerce and securing the e-commerce environment to both Ariel Technologies and its customers. "This is based on our leading global position within the e-commerce sector."

Dunkeld concludes: "Our respect for Ernst & Young`s judgement is such that we are negotiating with them to permanently audit the Hub from a functionality and security aspect. That way our customers can sleep easily and so can we."

The jointly run technology is based on Infobank`s InTrade Electronic Commerce Hub and vendor Infobank has a long term alliance with Ernst & Young in Europe where it is the dominant B2B Electronic Commerce software supplier.
