ARIS ProcessDay 2003 huge success

Johannesburg, 22 Oct 2003

The ARIS ProcessDay 2003, co-hosted by Collaborative Process Integration (CPI), IDS Scheer AG and CS Holdings was a huge success, according to Dawie Jacobs from CPI, the value-added reseller (VAR) for IDS Scheer in SA.

More than 300 delegates attended the two sessions in Johannesburg and Cape Town on 2 and 4 September respectively. Prof Dr Dr h.c. mult. August-Wilhelm Scheer, keynote speaker at the ProcessDay was well received with his presentation on the New Wave within Business Process Engineering. Some of the other highlights included business cases presented by South African companies of their own experiences in the business process management (BPM) field.

Janis Myburgh from Spoornet discussed Spoornet`s drive to become a process-driven organisation with the implementation of BPM. "Spoornet recognises the fact that processes are the glue that hold together all other attributes, including organisational structures, key performance indicators, standards and business continuity requirements," said Myburgh.

According to Hanlie Botha from Eskom, business architecture is the expression of the enterprise`s key strategies and their impact on business functions and processes. "With models, each new problem make use of already documented models and is solved in the context of the total integrated information environment."

"I was amazed at the level of interest in ARIS and the degree of supporting tools available in the industry," commented Dave Dingle from Eskom Telecommunications. Gill Staniland from the SA Medical Research Council said: "This was such a worthwhile day, it has inspired me to push harder to turn the MRC into a process-driven organisation."
