Arivia.kom CEO welcomes focus on B2B at 24th Computer Faire

On the opening day of the 24th annual Computer Faire, arivia.kom CEO Zeth Malele welcomed the new emphasis by Computer Faire on the business-to-business (B2B) market. Arivia.kom sponsored this year`s Computer Faire opening function.

"As a major player in the ICT market, we are pleased from a business point of view that the format has changed and are happy that we derived value from our presence at the exhibition. However, I also have some regrets about the lost opportunity to influence the broader community and, in particular, South African youth and their career choices.

"However, the new 'Pulse` show, which will be held at the Sandton Convention Centre in early November should fulfil this role. Pulse will have a consumer focus, with gadgets and devices replacing the IT solutions.

"In this country we need to attract a greater number of previously disadvantaged individuals into the information technology arena and I will redouble my efforts to encourage previously disadvantaged individuals to enter information technology as a career.

"During the exhibition, we hosted our customers, shareholders and partners at our stand and concluded business instead of just talking business."

Malele recognised the contribution that the customers of arivia.kom have made to its success since its launch shortly before the Computer Faire last year. "The miracle of arivia.kom is due to the vision of Minister Jeff Radebe who facilitated the consolidation of the IT assets of Denel, Transnet and Eskom into one entity, and also to our customers who have supported our transformation over the last 15 months and who have been critical in making arivia.kom the ICT force it is today.

"In the year ahead we aim to continue to leverage our assets to contribute to economic growth as well as assist in maintaining the democratic gains this country has achieved."
