Arivia.kom executive denies suspension

Johannesburg, 14 Jul 2005

One of the senior managers reportedly suspended by state IT group arivia.kom has denied any knowledge of his suspension or of any action pending against him.

Arivia.kom COO Hugo Knoetze said earlier this week that business development manager Kagiso Mokgatle was one of two executives suspended pending an internal investigation.

Although Knoetze would not reveal the reason for the suspensions, he did say the actions formed part of arivia.kom`s management shake-up .

However, Mokgatle says he was not suspended, but rather resigned from the company on 17 June, and left on 22 June to take up an executive position elsewhere.

He also said he is not of a dispute between himself and the company, or of any investigations conducted by arivia.kom.

"I never signed a suspension form and I don`t know what I would have been suspended for. I also don`t know of any dispute with the company," Mokgatle says.

"They didn`t tell me anything about an investigation and appear to have accepted my resignation."

But Knoetze is adamant that Mokgatle was suspended and that an investigation is under way.

"He was suspended and then he resigned, but we did not accept his resignation," Knoetze says.
