Face Technologies, a subsidiary of leading South African IT company arivia.kom, has signed a contract worth $1.8 million to modernise the operations of Uganda`s National Social Security Fund (NSSF) with a new integrated information management system.
This follows arivia.kom`s evaluation of the ICT requirements of the NSSF to enable it to deliver high-quality services.
Face Technologies MD Serfies Serfontein comments that the new system will allow the NSSF to integrate all its computer-based operations which is central to the achievement of the expected benefits. A local area network (LAN) at NSSF headquarters will be linked to a wide area network (WAN) that will link all the NSSF`s offices countrywide.
The enhancement of the NSSF`s information management systems will enable the prompt and efficient collection of the member contributions, investment of funds and payment of benefits.
The new system will ensure that members and other stakeholders receive information in a timely and efficient manner, and the successful completion of the project will assist in positioning the NSSF to play a key role in the transformation of Uganda`s economy.
George Stander, managing executive of arivia.kom`s Face Group of Companies, concludes: "We feel proud to be trusted by the authorities in Uganda with such a high profile project and we see Uganda setting a leading example for Africa with its new national social security fund system."
